I had numerous light scratches on the glass without having hit anything specific. Personally I think it was caused by the cufflinks I used with my shirts. It drove me crazy and I removed the external layer of AR coating with a cape cod cloth. Took me 20 min and all the scratches disappeared. You got a small scratch - get over it. 99% of the dial surface is still covered by AR layering. "Invisible crystal" is the most prominent quality of PO. Save Share You have three choices. Live with the scratch, replace the crystal or remove the AR coating with polywatch. If you decide to remove the AR coating, make sure that you tape off the bezel first. The AR coating is similar to the coating on prescription eye glass lenses. Can the outer anti-reflective coating be scratched? Yes, it can. You can have a watchmaker remove the outer layer if you so choose, but it would diminish the positive properties of having the coating in the first place.

My guess is that it's the AR coating. Weird because it happened just from bumping against a shelf and then apparently left just the little dot. Looking at that spot in direct light, it also stands out in a way that might indicate a problem with the AR coating. It does scratch if it hits very hard surfaces. But regular cleaning with soap and a soft bristle brush, toweling and even paper towels will not scratch this surface. Towels, t-shirts micro fibre cloths are all friends to the AR, unless there are particles of .
